‘abhav’ is a category of nyaya and navya nyaya (systems/philosophies of logic) meaning ‘presence of absence’… so if the pot is not in the house, the nyayayika (practitioner of nyaya) will say that the absence of the pot is present in the house…


was thinking about cartography and power gained by having dominance over it… and was reminded of this picture i saw in a photo exhibition in my first sem in jnu… late 2006… oct or nov… it was titled ‘exploring masculinities’… up there is that pic…


this aint a very good picture… being taken from within a bus… but i hope one can at least understand what has happened to those rooms depicted in the picture… those are half-rooms… the ‘legal’ half… the rest, ‘illegal’ half, has been destroyed by delhi municipality bulldozers…
